White Swallow - Diamond Special Fingerstyle: Banjostore

Made by Alan Funk of South Australia, this modestly priced banjo has steel bar type truss rod - the neck wood can be pared down as the neck strength depends on steel rather than the thickness of wood.  Slides are effortless and thumbing the 5th string is a piece of cake (as in melodic pieces and adding 6ths and 9ths in back-up.)

The sound is sweet, clear, and surprisingly loud with good response throughout the tonal range.  The high frets have singing sustain and there's plenty of gutsy bass presence.

Alan has selected quality tone woods appropriate to the function.  This banjo has figured Queensland Maple neck, Walnut peghead and figured White Ash resonator.  Redgum fingerboard with mother-of-pearl diamond motif inlays.  Spikes at 7th, 9th and 10th frets.  Steel nut and stainless steel flange with eagle design.  Saga tuners.  Snuffy Smith bridge. Block construction rim of White Ash.  Includes hard case.  Light, strong, elegant, affordable, great sound and made in Australia!
