WINDSOR POPULAR - Circa 1900's - Sold

A vintage open-back from the British maker whose banjos have travelled the world. This one has mahogany neck made from one piece of sold wood and carved heel detail.

Ebony fingerboard with mother-of-pearl inlays (one or two showing wear). Has been refretted at some stage and the 5th string peg replaced. Spun-over rim with 28 brackets. Notched tension hoop and Remo head (10 5/8" diameter) recently fitted, and this size readily available. Unusual to find an open-back over 100 years old with 22 frets and scale length 27.5". Very sturdy instrument. New strings and bridge. Perch rod bears Windsor's official signature stamp, Made in Birmingham.
