Fingerstyle is delighted to present 3 fretless clawhammer banjos hand-crafted in the traditional style by Paul Reilly, Australia.

These banjos were made to demonstrate to potential customers the old-timey sounds possible from selected tonewoods, types of tone rings, and rim depths. They vary from 3 to 5 years old, are in excellent condition, built to showroom standard and totally unique. Lightly played - hardware shows some patina so priced accordingly.

All have:

  • block-construction rims for added strength and tone, then veneered, capped, and polished with multiple coats of Danish oil to a satin finish
  • non-adjustable stainless steel tubular truss rods for stability and strength
  • No-Knots tailpiece
  • Fybreskin head
  • quality geared tuning pegs
  • hand carved frailing scoop detail
  • hard case and spare set of strings included in price

    REILLY FRETLESS OLD TIMEY - QUEENSLAND MAPLE - Sold


    Highly figured old growth Queensland Maple neck and African Blackwood fingerboard with frailing scoop. Nickel plated Waverly two-band tuners. 68 mm deep pot. Whyte Laydie style tone ring. The inner and outer surfaces of the pot are veneered with hand-cut maple. This banjo is one of only 2 made from this particular timber and will never be repeated.

    Queensland Silver Ash neck and African Blackwood fingerboard. Nickel plated Five-Star tuners. 65 mm deep pot. Nickel plated brass tone ring. Inner and outer surfaces of the pot veneered with Queensland Silver Ash.
