D.P. HOPKINS "WOODIE" 5-STRING BLUEGRASS BANJO - Pre-Loved - 2006

This is an archived page and this may or may not have been sold. Please click here for current stock.

Excellent condition. High build quality from the house of Hopkins, Tennessee, USA. For those who have got past the 'heavy is better' theory!

Block construction Tony Pass submerged-woods rim is cunningly shaped to continue the rim into a tone-ring. There's nothing whimpy about the sound coming out of THIS banjo! Keep the head tensioned and listen to the excellent response across the whole tonal range.

Figured walnut neck and highly figured burl walnut resonator. Ebony fingerboard and original-design pearl inlays. Ivoroid planetary tuners & geared 5th peg. Chrome plated hardware, bound neck and resonator, railroad spikes at frets 7, 9 & 10. All original parts including bridge. This instrument has been gently played and well looked after.
Two-piece flange and domed bracket nuts enable this banjo to be converted to an open-back. One of only 2 in Australia. (Wendy Holman of Fingerstyle owns the other.)

Includes new plush-lined hardcase. On Consignment, was $5200 - NOW $4850 .oz flag (RRP: $5625 AUD allowing $400US freight)
